Antrim Castle
It was not the castle, just minimal remains of the castle.

Gwrych Castle
We visited Gwrych Castle for an escape live event. Amazing experience, you could tell a lot of effort had gone into making the experience so good. The characters were fantastic and scared the hell out of me. Please bring this back next year. Thank you

Stirling Castle
We loved this castle. The gardens are beautiful. In the palace apartments there were people dressed in period costumes as nobleman, a musician and a security guard. The musician was playing the lute and was quite good. This really helped to bring the history to life. We were able to self guide through the buildings. It was a wonderful experience.

Urquhart Castle
I’ve dreamed of visiting Urquhart Castle since I read a book about the Loch Ness Monster as a kid. The castle not only met but exceeded all of my expectations - it is absolutely awe-inspiring! The views were so beautiful, and it really feels like you’re walking into history when you go through the gate. The ruins are well-maintained, and the informative plaques throughout give great explanations as to what is what. It was a dream come true to visit!

Mountfitchet Castle & Norman Village
Parking is free on Sunday and Holidays ( check picture with prices and park on the bottom with sign for long stay ). Brilliant for spending family day out, especially with a lot of friendly animals around you there ( when you buy tickets, buy the food there too, so you can feed them). A lot of history and reconstruction so interesting and for everyone something there, including toy House museum next to the village and dinosaur Park ( kids just loved it). Maybe it looks that all those can't work together, but for kids, that is a brilliant idea to mix all together. At the end, you can have your family picking and relax, but you can buy food and drinks there too If you didn't brought your own. Recommended and enjoy your day!

Urquhart Castle
This was one of the personal highlights of our trip to Scotland. I love the old castles anyway, but I teach physics and every spring we have the kids build catapults. As an introduction, I show the NOVA episode where they built two catapults and filmed it at Urquhart Castle. Seeing one of the catapults on site was great. I loved being able to wander the castle freely and resting the little informational signs. For me, at least, it was a don't miss opportunity.

Old Bishop's Palace
A gem of a small space to wander in and ponder with your thoughts. The trees and flowers are well cared for.The riuns themselves are not as well cleaned and most are not accessible and seem a little forlorn. There are a few benches along the inside of the walls.

Carlisle Castle
Beautiful castle, really shows the history of the North West of the country. Loved seeing it and the historical culture of the engineering works. You get a real feel of Tudor England in here
