Good fresh, cooked to order and I had gluten free cod and chips. Very nice

To say this is massive disappointment is an understatement - when the tarka daal is sent out with a burnt tarka and the owner / waiter / chef all rolled into one doesn't acknowledge the problem (and even refuses to taste it himself) then that really should tell you all you need to know...This is a famous curry house with taxi drivers who can't talk highly enough of the lamb bhuna - but we were left perplexed because what is served is your standard curry house lamb in base gravy (and not a great one at that), not an actual bhuna. Similarly the chicken saag was met poorly, too.Mixed grill the same as any other place on the Coventry Road - tough as leather boots. The paratha were not flaky and crispy as they should be, basically a roti given the once over with some fat on the pan.I repeat: disappointed.

I’m sad to give a poor rating to what I expected to be a sweet neighbourhood Cantonese restaurant.The food was ok, but for the price was very small portions and only fair quality. 1/2 crispy duck was quite dry and had almost no meat. Pancakes were raw and cold, not warm at all. Special rice had maybe a few shrimps and no vegi with a couple of pieces of dry chicken, was not special and double the price of egg fried rice. We saw a staff member arrive with boxes of frozen food from the shops and heard the “ding” of a microwave several times. Not confident that the food is made fresh.They are in construction so be careful when heading downstairs to the loo. You’ll have to navigate a cluttered narrow hallway filled with debris and building material.I’m optimistic that this critique will hopefully encourage this cute neighbourhood restaurant to make some much needed improvements.

The treatment by the waiters has been excelente and they have also let us in for dinner just before closing. The stars that I have given them are mainly due to the food, the dishes that I ordered did not have much flavor. Of the three, I would only recommend the tofu soup. On the other hand, you can only pay in cash and we were not told before going in for dinner.

The Pie, mash, and liquor was so delicious, I could have eaten it twice over!Easy to see (I mean taste!) why F Cooke Pie & Mash is famous.(I wish I lived closer.)

We received a warm welcome and all the staff were friendly. The food was good honest pub grub. I had the steak and ale pie which was delicious, the meat was very tender and my husband had the gammon steak and egg which had all the trimmings. It was good value too, especially now with the cost of living rising. We are hoping to buy our new home in the area and look forward to becoming a regular!

Beautiful ambience, friendly staff. Meals were delicious. Will definitely be back again. Highly recommend.
